Not all shells are suitable for interior design products.
First of all, some shells are on the endangered species list,
and cannot be used for commercial purposes.
If I would risk it, and use banned shells in our designs,
I might end up 30 YEARS in the Philippine SLAMMER,
and I have absolutely no intention
to spend a long holiday over there.
All the shells we use, are purchased from the :
- pearl farm, where shells are harvested for the pearl
(mother of pearl, black lip, and river shell)
- either from shell meat farms, where shells are harvested
for their meat (abalone)
- either from `stockers` on the islands,
which buy the shells from the fishermen.
